Hello, I’m Lonny, and growing up in a military family presented unique challenges, particularly as the youngest of six siblings. To avoid consistently being at a disadvantage, I initiated my martial arts training in the early 1980s, starting with judo and taekwondo. Over the course of a decade, I studied and competed, ultimately earning my shodan in judo. Following a relocation, I joined Gibson’s Martial Arts, where I expanded my skills in various disciplines, including boxing, Muay Thai, Savate, Jun Fan, Jeet Kune Do, Kali, and Silat. Under the guidance of Ajarn, Guro, Sifu Terry Gibson, I earned belts and had the opportunity to train alongside Ajarn Adams. Additionally, I had the privilege of studying with renowned instructors, including Guro Dan Inosanto, Grandmaster Ajarn Chai, and Sufi Francis Fong. Due to a medical issue, I temporarily left Gibson’s school but eventually returned to martial arts, exploring different schools and styles, including Jeet Kune Do under a student of Sifu Ted Wong and tried traditional kung fu. In 2012, I reconnected with Ajarn Adams and began training under his tutelage, which continues to the present. I have developed a deep appreciation for the diversity of Kali, Arnis, and Eskrima, and I am committed to my studies, having earned my black belt in Kali and working towards my black belt in Silat.
